Obituary for Beverly Marie Steinike

Beverly “Bev” Marie Steinike, age 80, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022. She was born in Oshkosh on May 20, 1942, the daughter of the late Adolph and Marian (Tennessen) Poeschl. On November 23, 1968 she married James D. Steinike at St. Peter Catholic Church, Oshkosh. Bev graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1960 and held a variety of jobs; she especially loved working at New American Bank, but was primarily a wonderful homemaker, raising her two children. Bev was an award winning Avon salesperson for almost 40 years and was a very active volunteer at St. Peter’s for First Friday luncheons and many church picnics. As a lifelong resident of Oshkosh, she appreciated the museums and parks. She will be remembered for her the love she had for her family, and her “gift of gab.” Bev knew just about everyone in town, and if anything happened during the school day, it was on her radar before Sue and Jim got home for the inquisition!

Beverly is survived by her children: Susan Steinike and James C. Steinike; sisters: Sr. Joyce Poeschl and Carol Sitzberger; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband James D. Steinike, in 2004.

A visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the mass at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Most Blessed Sacrament, St. Peter’s site, 435 High Ave., Oshkosh. Burial will be in Catholic Riverside Cemetery, Oshkosh. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023, or Fr. Carr’s Place 2B, 1062 N. Koeller St., Oshkosh, WI 54902.
