Obituary for Philip Carl Hetzel

Philip C. Hetzel, age 81, of Winneconne passed away suddenly at his home on Monday, January 15, 2018. Philip was born to Carl and Marcella (Stolzman) Hetzel on November 28. 1936. Phil was a graduate of Oshkosh High School, once he graduated, he enlisted into the Navy Reserves. After his service to his country, he met and married Barbara Lenz on July 9, 1960. They went on to have three children. Phil was a very doting father, he was an avid Packer fan. He was a social person, who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Before retirement in 1995, Phil was a long-time employee of Rockwell in Oshkosh. He enjoyed playing cribbage and sheep’s head as well.

Phil is survived by his children: Jill (Daniel) Hetzel-Smith, Andrew (Lori) Hetzel, his grandchildren: Kayla Hetzel-Smith, Dakota Hetzel-Smith, Natasha Hetzel, siblings: Barbara (Junior) Peterson, Susanne (Robert) Gunderson, sister-in-law: Gloria Bartlett, as well as several nieces, nephews, and family friends.

Phil is preceded in death by his wife: Barbara Hetzel, who passed before him after 48 wonderful years, his son: Patrick Hetzel, his sister: Patricia McNiece, as well as his parents.

A funeral mass for Phil will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 519 Knapp St, in Oshkosh. A time of visitation for Phil will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am, prior to the funeral mass.
