Carol Ann Johnson, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, April 4, 2022. She was born in Oshkosh on December 11, 1945, the daughter of the late Joseph and Florence (Lewis) Frank. On December 11, 1982 she married Gerald “Jerry” Johnson at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Oshkosh. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from UW-Oshkosh and a Master’s degree in Geriatric Social Work from UW-Milwaukee. Carol worked at Evergreen Retirement Community and, after returning to University, worked as a social worker for Outagamie County. After she retired, Carol filled in as a social worker for Winnebago County when help was needed. Volunteer opportunities presented themselves at Evergreen where Carol was proud of her Halloween pumpkin painting. She was also known to enjoy gardening, travel, sewing and crafts. Carol will be remembered for her love of animals, giving heart and the love she had for her family.
Carol is survived by her husband of almost 40 years, Jerry; children: Susie (Jeff) Schumerth, Mary (Matt) Bayens and Eric (Laura) Johnson; grandchildren: Hannah Bayens, Fletcher Bayens, Calvin Schumerth and Tyler Schumerth; brother, James Frank; and cousins: Diane Stein and Terry Zabkowicz.
A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial mass at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 830 S. Westhaven Dr., Oshkosh. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Oshkosh. A memorial fund in Carol’s name is being established.
