Obituary

Charles (Chuck) Nigl, age 67, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019, at St. Paul’s in Kaukauna. Charles, son of Alfred "Fritz" and Marion Nigl, was born in Oshkosh on March 9, 1952. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from UW-Oshkosh and worked for the United States Postal Service until retirement. Chuck was a WWII history buff and co-author of a book about the 82nd Airborne. He was very interested in his family lineage and was the go-to guy for questions regarding his German ancestors. He enjoyed traveling and reconnecting with his family in Germany. Chuck was a loving grandfather “Opa” and spent every weekend bowing to the will of his two granddaughters.
Charles was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara, brother, David and his mother and father. He will be greatly missed by his brother, Dr. Alfred Nigl (San Diego, CA), daughters, Kristine (Yoder, CO) and Katherine (Stoughton, WI), son, James (Oshkosh, WI), son-in-law, Koen and granddaughters, Emma and Nora as well as extended family and friends.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at Seefeld Funeral Home, 1025 Oregon Street, Oshkosh, on Thursday, May 2, 2019, from 4-7pm.
Charles’ family would like to thank the Nurses and Staff at St. Paul’s Elder Services in Kaukauna for the kindness and care they provided in the last month of his life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fox Valley Brain Tumor Coalition in Appleton on Charles’ behalf. Online condolences to the family may be given at www.seefeldfuneral.com.

Our sincere condolences to the family of Chuck. We fondly remember the Nigl family reunion and the extensive genealogy that was laid out for all of us to enjoy. Being Miller's(Eugene and Marie's son) we really enjoyed learning about the family history. Paul still remembers having a paper route when he was young and delivering to Alfred and Marion. Freddy is my brother Dan's age. We bought a copy of the book put together on Bischofsreut from Chuck and treasure all the history in that book. He has a passion for the family history like our cousin Diane Miller has. God bless you all with His comfort at this time. Paul and Marianne Miller

My deepest condolences for the loss of Charles. May you find comfort through prayer to 'the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials' (2 Corinthians 1: 3, 4). May you also find comfort in the hope God gives of being able to see Charles again.

My condolences to the family. No doubt this is a tough time for your family and the need for comfort is critical. Thankfully God lovingly provides us with his word the Bible which offers us this comfort. (Revelation 21:4) So very soon God will bring about a time where not only our loved ones will return, but they will return to a world where they wont be plagued by or stalked by death.

I remember all the genealogy Chuck charted for the “Nigl Family Reunion” in 2003. Many branches of the Nigl families from Oshkosh were in South Park. In 2005, we went to Bischofreut, Germany where we have Nigl relation. It was so nice because Chuck spoke German! In November, Chuck and I were working on the history of Nigl’s Chieftain. I will miss you dear cousin “Chuckie”. Carla Nigl
