Dorothy M. Ray, age 85, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, June 3, 2022. She was born in Platteville, WI on June 10, 1936, the daughter of the late Milford and Arlene (Dolphin) Smith. Dorothy graduated from Belmont High School, Class of 1954. On April 28, 1957 she married Robert L. Ray. He preceded her in death on January 24, 2015. Dorothy was a stay-at-home mother raising her children as well as babysitting countless others. Through this, she touched many lives. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, never missing a birthday, event, or play-time. Robert and Dorothy made many world-wide friends hosting EAA for 40 years. Dorothy’s other passions were gardening, canning, baking, and feeding the birds. Forever the arm-chair “coach”, she loved her Badgers, Brewers, Packers and Bucks. With her friends, she never missed an opportunity for an exciting board or card game playing into the early hours.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Jeffrey (Janet) Ray of Neenah and Lynn (Mark) Barnes of Chandler, AZ; grandchildren: Joshua (Alicia) Ray, Jessica (Mitch) Ryan, Devin (Andrea) Barnes and Nicole (Gavin) Griffiths; great-grandchildren: Amelia, Sawyer, Brody, Bella, Adlynn, Daxton, Korben and Ryker; sisters: Shirley Long and Betty Larsen; and brother, Milton (Marilyn) Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; and her grandparents who raised Dorothy, Milton and Abbie Dolphin.
