Obituary for Edward L. Reimer

Edward L. Reimer, age 87, passed away on June 20, 2022 at Evergreen Manor in Oshkosh. He was born June 29, 1934, son of Frank and Elsie (Villnow) Reimer. On June 21, 1958 he married Phyllis L. Lee at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Omro. Phyllis preceded him in death on September 17, 2020. They were happily wed for 62 years. Ed attended the University of Wisconsin Madison earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Light Building Industry. He graduated June 16, 1958. As an employee of the Richards-Wilcox Manufacturing Company Phyllis and Ed lived in Aurora, Illinois, Dallas, Texas and Houston, Texas. In 1962 they returned to Wisconsin, where Ed served the City of Oshkosh for 28 years holding the titles of Building Inspector, Heating Inspector, Zoning officer and Chief Inspector. He also served on the planning commission. Ed served the State of Wisconsin as a member of the original one and two family code committee. In 1989 he was named Building Inspector of the Year by the State of Wisconsin Building Inspector Association. He was an original member of the Northeast Wisconsin Building Inspector Association. As a member he held titles of secretary, Vice President and President. Ed was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Oshkosh where he was active in Men in Mission. He entered the United States Air Force on November 13, 1953 as an Aviation Cadet and was stationed at Moses Lake, Washington. Ed's hobbies included hunting, fishing, mushrooming and visiting casinos with a preference for Craps and Blackjack. Phyllis and Ed enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas casinos over the years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; parents, Frank and Elsie (Villnow) Reimer; mother and father-in-law, Esther and Phillip Lee; sister, Faye and husband Jim Bronson; brother, Robert and wife Jean; and brother, Donald.

He will be dearly missed by son, Kenneth (Judy) Reimer of Omro; daughter, Brenda (Rick) Eiden of Palm Desert, CA; granddaughter, Jessica (Erik) Kamrath of La Habra, CA; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Duane) Buehring of Oshkosh; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Seefeld Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Oshkosh.

The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Manor for their care of Ed in his last months.
