Obituary for Grace Lois Dettlaff (Manthey)
Grace L. Dettlaff went to be with her Savior on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018 just three days shy of her 88th birthday. She was born to George and Ruth (Glebke) Manthey on Dec. 21, 1930 in Portage WI.
She married Robert J. Dettlaff on Sept 25, 1948 and they shared 58 years of marriage before Bob passed away in Dec. 2006. They raised eight children in the Christian faith rarely missing a Sunday service at Faith Evang. Lutheran Church and then Immanuel Evang. Lutheran Church.
Grace was known for remembering to send her hundreds of friends and relatives cards on their birthdays. She was an animal lover starting with Muscovy ducks as a child on the farm. She enjoyed gardening, reading her daily devotions and listening to music.
Her children Wayne (Tracey) Dettlaff, Bruce Dettlaff of La Crosse WI, Ruth Ann Simpson of Saith Joseph MO, Carolyn Horton, Lorraine Stewart of Redgranite WI, Russell (Karen) Dettlaff, Gregory Dettlaff of Dallas TX and Brian (Cindy) Dettlaff will always remember her as a devoted mother. She also had 10 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons-in-law, Cecil Simpson and Gary R. Stewart.
Please join the family for a visitation from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at IMMANUEL EVANG. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 338 N. Eagle St., Oshkosh, with Rev. John E. Seelman officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Park.
