Janice Arlene Frazee, 93, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022. She was born on January 10, 1929, to Rueben and Magdelena (Stettbacher) Unferth, of Lomira, WI.
Janice attended Oshkosh State Teachers College, now UW-Oshkosh. She began teaching at Grant Elementary School in Sheboygan, WI, where she met her husband Donald Normand Frazee. She eventually earned two Master's degrees from UW-Milwaukee.
After retiring in 1989, Janice moved to Oshkosh to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She made the most of her retirement, from helping to care for her grandchildren to continuing her education through UWO’s Learning in Retirement program. She sewed church mice to raise funds for Fond du Lac Cathedral and volunteered with the Red Cross. Always active, she gardened and traveled extensively. Later in life, she enjoyed reminiscing and spending time with friends and family.
She will be remembered for her independence, generosity, and how much she loved and supported her family.
Janice is survived by her children: Elizabeth (Albert) Fisher and Christopher Frazee; grandchildren: Andrew (Lindsay) Fisher, Amber (John) Frazee, Benjamin (Taylor) Frazee, Emily (Tim) Fisher, Laura Fisher, Brandon (Kari) Frazee; great-grandchild, Thomas; brother, William (Maryann) Unferth; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; son, David Frazee; brother, Donald Unferth; and sisters: Jean Schneiter and Shirley Washatka.
It was Janice’s wish to have her body donated to UW School of Medicine. She will be inurned at Grace Episcopal Church in Sheboygan, near her husband and son, at a later date.
The family thanks the staff at Evergreen Retirement Community, Oshkosh, for their years of care, as well as the staff at Moments Hospice for their care and comfort during Janice’s final days.
