Obituary for Marilyn Lorraine Stewart

Marilyn Lorraine Stewart, 85, was called home to the Lord on March 25, 2023. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 15, 1937 to Alfred and Hazel Stewart.

She and her family relocated to Oshkosh, WI at age 8. She would remain in Oshkosh the rest of her life. She made some wonderful friends along the way through youth camps, the church and college. She endured many health issues in her life but always persevered. She worked early in life at Wisconsin Telephone Company, and later at the UW-Oshkosh in the accounting department. She was a faithful and loyal daughter to her parents and cared for them until their passing. She was a faithful servant to the Lord. Her faith was the most important in her life and reading her Bible cover to cover was an annual practice. It helped her persevere through many heartaches and health issues, but she also shared that faith with so many and blessed them with her wisdom, strength and wonderful stories she loved deeply. She believed in educating children as a Sunday School Teacher and sponsored many camperships at Crossways Camps and especially “Imago Dei Camp” in Clintonville where she went as a youth and met friends she kept in touch with until her passing. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Marilyn enjoyed traveling and took her mother on many trips. She enjoyed music and cards, writing them and receiving them. She always blessed many with her stories and news in her writing.

Marilyn is survived by her niece, Pam (Mark) Heling; great-nephews, Eric (Gina Waller), Rudie (Nicki Laus), Travis Heling. She is further survived by very special friends, and caregivers, Jenny and Kurt Shafer, Elizabeth Shafer, Emily Shafer (Chris) Skogen, Korra, Ava and Liam Skogen, Toni Neimckek and Brittany Schneider; cousins, Charlotte Schuessler, Kevin Degnar and Mary (Mark) Knoll.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Hazel Stewart; brothers, Ralph and Kenneth Stewart, Aunts and uncles, Lawrence (Marion) Degner, Jeanette (Elmer) Fiedler, Lucille Degner, Lyle Degner, William Degner, Gladys (Gordon) Griffith, Melvin (Shirley) Degner, Lorraine (Carter) Horsfall.
