Obituary for Mary Lou Norman (Hogle)

Mary Lou Norman passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 1, 2021 with her devoted daughter, Gladys Rose, at her side. She was a resident of Omro Care Center for the past 4 years following a stroke. For many years, Mary could be seen sitting with her dog, Lucky on her front porch beautifully adorned with many hanging plants and flower boxes. Mary loved talking and having coffee with neighbors as they passed by. Mary’s back door was almost always open and the coffee pot always on. It was not uncommon for Mary to have brewed 3 pots of coffee by the end of the day for herself, her daughter and a neighbor or 2 that stopped by just about every morning. Mary enjoyed a simple lifestyle and was welcoming and accepting of people from all walks of life. If you came to her door hungry you left full. She enjoyed being a homemaker, loved to cook, garden, and fish and stopped at every rummage sale. She had a special love for dogs.

Mary was born on 10/26/1937 to the late Noel Grant and Gladys Rose Hogle in Marne, Michigan. She married Ralph (Jake) Jacobsen in 1955 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They had 3 children; Gladys (Jacobsen) Dowidat, Johnny Jacobsen and Thomas Jacobsen. After her first husband's death, she married Reuben Norman and moved to Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin from Michigan.

Mary was blessed with 5 grandchildren; Jason Tramel, Stephanie Jacobsen, Jenette (Jacobsen) Connely, Julie Jacobsen, Johnny Jacobsen, Jr. As well as 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary’s 3 siblings preceded her in death, Arnold Jay Hogle, Marjorie Ruth (Hogle) Ostrander and Robert Hogle.
Special friends in her life was her neighbor that stopped for coffee each morning, Donn Lord, and Kathy Bickelhaupt Blansette plus many others. Mary will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Per Mary’s wish, there will not be a funeral. There will be a private family graveside service at Rienzi Cemetery on Friday, August 6th with Pastor Robert Rosenberg officiating.

A very special thank you to Omro Care Center for taking such loving care of Mary the past 4 years.
