Obituary for Paul Douglas Coates

Paul D. Coates, age 63, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh, WI. He was born on August 2, 1957 to Garth and Eunice (Velie) Coates. He was employed with the Universal Foundry in Oshkosh for many years he was later employed with Advocap Inc. until he started his own business, Precision Contractors as a general contractor specializing in carpentry and repair home remodeling. He took great pride in working with his hands to repair and remodel many homes and small downtown businesses in the Oshkosh area.

He met the love of his life, Donna Mauk in 1986 and together combined their family of seven whom he loved and cherished. Paul enjoyed the simple pleasures in life from small jobs around the house working with his father and grandsons to flipping pancakes and baking cookies, spending time with family and friends to taking naps in his chair. Paul had the ability to reach others with his smile, sense of humor, and long talks teaching others the skills he knew to anyone willing to learn. He will be greatly missed by all who had the chance to know him.

Paul is survived by his loving lifelong partner, Donna Mauk; his children, Connie Coates, Paula Coates, Sheila Coates, Justin (Becky) Mauk, Andrea (Andy) Kenyon; his grandchildren, Sarah, Brock, Alex, Michael, Brooklynn, Annabella, Cliff, Greta, Benjamin, Archer, and little Abel; and his great grandbaby on the way. He is further survived by his sisters, Kim Mills, Kay (Tom) Bradley, Edith (Denise) Almond; his brothers, David Sr., Garth Coates Jr.; as well as many nieces, nephews, special friends, Tom Rowland, and Gwen Heagle.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Garth Sr. and Eunice; brothers, Mark, and Denny; and sister, JoAnn.
The family would like to thank the staff at Parkview Health Center, especially Julie and Tammy, and the ICU staff at Mercy Medical Center for taking special care of Paul, special thank you to Rose and Ali.

A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at Seefeld Funeral Home, 1025 Oregon Street, Oshkosh on May 14, with a time of gathering from 1pm to 3pm and service to begin at 3pm.
