Paula Neese, 72, formerly of Rockmont, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2020. Alzheimers took her memory and her health but it couldn’t take her smile and warmth.

A 1965 graduate of Northwestern High school in Maple, Paula went on to receive a baccalaureate degree in Hotel and Restaurant management from Michigan State University. After working for L.J Minor Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio, she moved to Madison starting a 30-year career as an assistant director of Housing and Food Service for UW-Madison. She fully embraced campus life and enjoyed Badger sports and events. In retirement, she moved from Madison to the family homestead in Rockmont. Her final wish was to donate her body to science so that others may benefit from her departure.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Arbutus (VanBuskirk) and Walter Neese; sisters Barbara Lien and Lois Potter, and nephew Hugh Evitt. She is survived by her brother Kirk (Cindy) Neese, Fond du Lac, and sister Nancy (Michael) Fredrickson, Superior; nieces Michal (Gerry) Unrah, Sandy Evitt, Leslie (Troy) Hiatt, Cherri (Jeff) Czerniejewski, Mindy Neese, Gabby (Dan) Finnegan, Lane (Jerod) Fischer and nephews Mark Potter, Cam Potter and Paul Fredrickson; many great nieces and nephews and special cousins Scott Watson (Meredith Alt) and Jill Watson (Tom Williams).

The family would like to thank the team at Azura Memory Care of Oshkosh for taking such good care of Paula during her time there.

A celebration of life will be held on June 7th, 2020, 9 a.m. at Devil’s Lake State Park in Baraboo, WI.
In lieu of flowers, please enjoy some time at a local state park.

My memories of Paula are of her subtle sense of humor, always fun, always helpful. In her visits to Wyoming, she always had little souvenirs, enjoyed trips to Yellowstone. We loved having her visit. She was funny, enjoyed laughing and life. She was one of the most calm, centered people I had the privilege of knowing. To be held captive by that horrible disease is such a tragedy. I know her family will miss her sweet personality and the joy she brought to them. Rest in peace, Paula. You are loved and greatly missed.

My sister was the kindest person I have ever met. As the evil disease Alzheimer's started to take my sister she didn't thing of herself. She said lets go to DISNEY! Seventeen family members jumped on planes to florida. Paula wanted the best and we all stayed at Animal Kingdom and 1 week of a vacation none of our family will ever forget. It so hot that all of us oldies were having heat issues but the week was so wonderful. Paula gave and gave to family. Paula loved tradition and spent many a Turkey day down in Madison.
