Obituary for Roger R. Suda

Roger Ralph Suda, age 81, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, March 12, 2023, to join his wife, Nancy. He was born in Oshkosh on June 21, 1941. Roger, a twin of Raymond (Ray), were two of seven brothers of the late Edward and Mildred (Porter) Suda. Roger always joked that he was the older twin as he was born first. Roger graduated from Oshkosh High School and joined the Air Force in 1961. He served his country for four years and was a proud veteran. Roger started at Rockwell International after the service as a machinist. On August 29, 1970 he married the late Nancy Rand in Oshkosh at Sacred Heart Church. Roger “Rog” and Nancy went on to have one son, Dan. After 31 years of service at Rockwell (aka Meritor) he retired. He became a Maintenance Manager at Fairacres Shopping Center in Oshkosh. Roger loved being active and especially working outside. Roger was heavily involved with Boy Scouts for nearly 20 years. He served as a Cub Scout Leader, Tiger Cub Leader and went on to District Leadership roles and was honored with Order of the Arrow. He was awarded the Silver Beaver, the highest award in Scouting. He loved the time with scouting the kids and parents.

During his 51 years of marriage to Nancy, they loved traveling the state, shopping and visiting favorite restaurants. It wasn’t uncommon for them to travel to Wisconsin Dells for breakfast. Roger has missed his “Fancy Nancy” since her passing in early 2022. Roger always had a smile and a joke for everyone. He was friendly, polite, upbeat and wasn’t afraid to take on a challenge. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He wouldn’t miss anything he could attend with the grandkids.

Roger is survived by his son, Dan (Shannon) Suda; grandchildren Ethan (20) and James (17); half-brother Stewart Suda, half-sister JoAnn Suda and brother-in-law Gary (Sue) Rand. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Richard Suda, Donald Suda, James Suda, Lawrence (Larry) Suda, Raymond (Ray) Suda, David Suda; half-brother Paul Suda; and special uncle and aunt, Robert and Eleanor Suda. Roger felt very fortunate to have two close, loving neighbors, Dave & Ruth Olejnik.

A visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Lakeview Memorial Park, 2786 Algoma Blvd, Oshkosh. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park.

The family would like to offer our sincere thanks and gratitude to the amazing staff of Aurora Medical Center of Oshkosh, Fresenius Medical Care, DaVita and Oakwood Manor who provided such wonderful care for Roger. Furthermore, we want to thank these doctors who became very special to the family over the years, Dr Kelsey Metzig, Dr Tarundeep Kaur & Dr Edward Lake.
