Obituary for Ronald Lee Widmer

Ronald Lee Widmer went to be with his Lord on Friday, August 25. He was 84 years old, having been born to Lawrence and Norma Widmer on October 30, 1938. He graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1956 and lived his entire life in Oshkosh. Ron served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard from 1956-1959 and was honorably discharged just before his unit was deployed for the Cuban Missile Crisis. Ron married Blanche O’Keefe on November 3, 1956. They had four children: Mark (Naomi), Vernon (Fran), David (Susan), and Mary. Ron was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his stepfather Charles Mader, and a grandson Austin Webster. He is survived by his sister Judy (Bob) Voss, his brother Brian (Marie), 4 children, 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. Ron accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior on December 30, 1973. He was a 49-year member of Wyldewood Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who also enjoyed meals with friends. His work history included Harra Beverage Company, Pluswood, Collier Plumbing and Heating, Fenner Plumbing, and Bemis Corporation. A memorial service is scheduled for September 23, 2023 at Wyldewood Baptist Church (3030 Witzel Ave in Oshkosh) with visitation at 9:00, service at 11:00, followed by a lunch. A private burial will be at Lake View Memorial Park in Oshkosh.
