Obituary for Sharon Lois Gabert (Schroeder)

Sharon L. (Schroeder) Gabert, 75, was called home on July 31st 2021 at Evergreen Sharehaven where she had resided since February of this year. She was born February 15, 1946 in Oshkosh and was the youngest child of the late Arthur (Art) and Lucille Trzebny Schroeder. Sharon graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1964 and was married to Richard L. (Dick) Gabert on October 28, 1967 at St. Vincent’s Church in Oshkosh. Dick preceded Sharon in death on March 24, 2021. Sharon was a member of St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church.
Sharon was a partner with Dick as he built his real estate business and worked at whatever task needed to be completed and is still remembered for renting apartments to tenants in their properties. Throughout her life, animals brought Sharon a lot of joy, especially dogs. She was an advocate for and a supporter of the Oshkosh Area Humane Society. Sharon also enjoyed traveling to their home in Naples Florida, reading, going out to eat, word search puzzles and watching classic television or listening to classic country music. Sharon also enjoyed watching and feeding ducks at their lake house and liked collecting birdhouses and bird decor.
Sharon and Dick’s daughter, Cindy (Jeffrey) Borgen and their children Sophia and Lauren survive them. Sharon is also survived by her brother, Rodney Schroeder of Appleton and brother-in-law Thomas Gabert of Oshkosh as well as nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 Monday August 23, 2021 at MARTIN LUTHER EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1526 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh with Rev. Tom Voss officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour before the service. A private internment will take place at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.
Over the last several years, Sharon was able to stay in her own home for a longer time due the amazing and generous care of a number of caregivers and friends. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Roxanne Lemieux, Paula Qualley, Mary Ann Nozar, Mary Llewellyn, Peggy McHugh, Karen Tollard and Hannah Nigl. The family also wishes to thank Evergreen Sharehaven for their care of Sharon, especially during her final days.
The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Psalm 23
