Obituary for Susan Irene Balza
Susan Balza, age 83, died June 12, 2023, from complications due to dementia at Omro Care Center in Omro, WI. She was born on February 1, 1940, in Kenosha, WI to Margaret (McLauren) and Stanley Baker.
She married her high school sweetheart, James J. Balza, on September 26, 1959, in Kenosha, WI. They moved to Winneconne, WI in 1969 and stayed there for many years until moving to Oshkosh, WI.
Susan is survived by her husband, James J Balza; Daughters, Tracie Schlaak (Dennis), Amy Walczak (Mike) and Lee Goetz (Frank). She is further survived by her sister, Patricia Adamson (Harry); grandchildren, Owen Rice (Rachel), Evan Rice (Olivia) Molly Schlaak, Samuel Schlaak, Preston Goetz (Abby), Payton Goetz, Amy Gonzales (Jesse), Melissa Thompson (Chris); great-grandchildren: Brynn, Blake, Evelynn, Emmitt, Elainna, Abel, Liam, Brantley, Charlie, Sienna, Zachary, Braiden and Brynlee; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Stanley Baker; Father-in-law, Ira Balza; Mother-in-law, Geraldine Balza and sister-in-law Judy Koch.
Susan was mostly a stay-at-home mom with a few odd jobs here and there. Susan loved to go thrifting. Her legacy is smiley faces and making dollar boats as gifts. She had a great sense of humor and was very smart, witty and sassy. Susan loved her family and her special dog, Otto.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Omro Care Center, especially B.J. and Rachel. They would also like to thank ProMedica Hospice for keeping her comfortable at the end of her life.
Visitation will be held at Seefeld Funeral Home 1025 Oregon St, Oshkosh, WI on Tuesday June 20, 2023 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm with services to follow, with Owen Rice officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help treat Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia.
