Obituary for Suzanne Dorothy Gehrke
Suzanne Dorothy Gehrke, 76, passed away in Oshkosh, WI on January 9, 2023. She was born in Wisconsin on August 5, 1946 to Bertha (Franzon) and Godfrey Koplitz.
Sue married Gregory Gehrke on June 5, 1964, together they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. She loved to sew and craft, she was known for her expertise doing alterations and was considered an expert seamstress, she had a special fondness for animals, especially the squirrels and birds in her yard, she also enjoyed bowling and going to the senior center. She will be remembered for her signature dumplings that were as large as they were delicious. Sue was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt.
Sue is survived by her husband Greg Gehrke Sr.; children, Greg Jr. (Terri) Gehrke, John Gehrke and Dawn Gehrke; two grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sisters, Nancy Samida, Diane (Don) Sonnleitner and LaVerne Bloedow as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family.
She is preceded by her infant son, Greg Jr.; sisters, Marion Drews, Geraldine Besaw, Rosalie Hanson; brother-in-law, Edward Bloedow; and her parents Bertha and Godfrey.
Funeral services will be held at Seefeld Funeral Home, 1025 Oregon Street, Oshkosh, WI 54902 on Thursday January 19, 2023. Visitation will be open from 10am until 11am with services to follow at 11am. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Oshkosh.
The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice, the staff at Mercy Hospital, Dr. Eric Duwell, and Nurse Kim for the expert care and compassion they gave to Sue during this difficult time.
Sue leaves us with some words of wisdom “It will always work out, that’s for sure.”
