Walter J. “Wally” Schmude, age 73, of Oshkosh, died Saturday morning, January 19, 2019, at Aurora Medical Center. Born on January 1, 1946, in Oshkosh, the son of Walter H. and Dorothy B. (Mueller) Schmude, Wally was a long-time employee of Kossel’s Appliance Store in the delivery department. He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, was an avid walker, liked to hunt and fish, spending time with family, and was known to “enjoy a good meal or two.”
Survivors include two daughters, Tammy (John) Valdez and Tracy Dodd, both of Oshkosh; six grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lavern Schmude of Oshkosh; a sister, Lorraine (Anthony) Zepczyk of Grizzly Flats, California; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Schmude of Oshkosh. Wally was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Louis and Leo Schmude; and a sister, Louise Schmude.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at 12:30 p.m. in Emmanuel United Church of Christ,1306 Michigan Street, with Pastor Andi Wolf officiating. Interment will follow services at Lake View Memorial Park. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the church.
