Obituary for Charlene Lee Marshall (Hinz)

Charlene L Marshall passed away following a brief illness on Friday, April 21, 2017. Born in Oshkosh on March 17, 1944 to Edwin and Ruth Hinz, Charlene attended school in Oshkosh and graduated from Oshkosh High School, class of 1962. On May 21, 1966, Charlene married David Marshall at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Charlene had a good sense of business and started her career as a book keeper at Kimberly Clark. Later she obtained her real estate agent and brokerage licenses, operating Marshall Realty for several years. In 1984, she and Dave partnered in a new venture, The Charcoal Pit, where Charlene was owner and operator.
Charlene loved to travel to new and exciting places whether it was a local road trip, to Panama City Beach, FL or to a casino where she was fortunate to have good luck, she was a spirited adventurer who enjoyed entertainment and was an avid Elvis fan. Never too busy for a friendly greeting and kind word, Charlene was the heart of not only her family but of her business as well. Charlene worked hard and played hard. Always young at heart, she will be greatly missed by many. She will be remembered for her compassionate kindness, genuine heart, generosity, contagious smile and welcoming nature.
Survivors include husband, David Marshall, Oshkosh; grandchildren Brook Marshall, Ripon, Carter Marshall, Norfolk, VA; brother Wayne (Vi) Hinz, Oshkosh; brother in law Don (Carol) Marshall Waupaca; nephews, Steve (Lisa) Marshall; Green Bay, Michael Marshall, Waupaca and niece Wendy Hinz, Oshkosh.
Preceding Charlene in death are her sons, David Marshall and Daniel Marshall; parents, Edwin and Ruth Hinz; and in-laws, Dr. David and Nina Marshall.
A celebration of Charlene's life will be held at The Bar, 825 N Washburn St, Oshkosh, WI on Wednesday, April 26 from 4 - 7pm. The family would like to thank the staff at the ThedaCare hospitals.
