Obituary for John Ronald "Ron" Frank

Ron Frank, 83, of Oshkosh, passed away with his family by his side on October 8, 2017. Ron was born on April 28, 1934, to the late John O. and Helen E. (Parks) Frank in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. On April 27, 1957, he married Denise L. Martens in Coleman, Wisconsin. They shared 40 years of marriage together before her passing in October of 1997.
Ron worked in the insurance industry for much of his life in various roles. Ron was a co-owner of Mueller Potter Drug Co. for 10 years, he loved spending time with his family and attending their events. He also enjoyed camping, traveling, playing games and cards, bonfires, watching the Packers, Badgers, and college basketball, as well. He also enjoyed dancing, volleyball, snowmobiling, bicycling, looking for deer on his old reliable road, assisting his children with construction projects, and especially spending time at Marten’s Nest. Ron was also the co-owner of Karni Pier for many years with his best friend, Ron Timmerman.
Ron is survived by his children: Jeffrey (Ann) Frank of Cottage Grove, MN, Stacy Deaton of Oshkosh, WI, Jacquelyn (Grady) Kuhn of Oshkosh, WI, Douglas (Charlene) Frank of Franklin, TN, and Ellen Blumer of Elk Mound, WI; his grandchildren: Brian and Meegan Frank, Neil Deaton, Kelly (Tim) Cartwright, Keri (Jeremy) Huck, Mackenzie Kuhn, Doug, Paul and Courtney Frank, Eric (Kirsten) Blumer, and Erin (Marcus) Hazen, and his great-grandchildren: Aeden, Liliana, Atley, Wyatt, and Sierra. Ron is also survived by his brother: Robert (Beverly) Frank of Waupun, WI, sister: Nancy (Jerry) Dickman of Virginia Beach, VA, his brothers and sisters-in-law: Don (Fern) Martens, Larry (Rita) Martens, Joyce Martens, Mary (Richard) Ziemer, and Mavis Martens. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends and family.
Ron is predeceased by his wife: Denny, his parents, his grandson: Scott Frank, his son-in-law: Matthew Blumer, his brothers and sisters-in-law: Mary Ann Frank, Lou and Don Malmstadt, Evelyn and Bob Bachhuber, H. Leonard Martens, Frank Martens, Nathalie Martens, Pat and Dan Waselchuck, Thomas Martens, Sister M. Stephanie Martens.
A funeral service for Ron will take place on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at 3:30 pm with Pastor Karen Jewell officiating. A luncheon will follow the Service. A time of visitation for Ron will take place on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm at the church prior to the Service.
Ron’s family would like to thank the entire staff of Park View Health Center for the excellent care and compassion that they showed to Ron. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Park View Health Center and the Alzheimer’s Association.
