She was born on September 29, 1928, in Oshkosh, the daughter of Oscar and Anna (Albertsen) Norton. After graduating from Berlin High School in 1946, Ruby Ann worked in the office of Nigbor Fur Coat Company. Later she moved to Omro to be with family and then worked at the New American Bank in Oshkosh.
In August 1947 she married Ralph Lesnick, in Berlin. After their marriage they moved to Normal, Illinois, where Ralph was attending college. After college graduation they moved to Howards Grove, East Troy, Lena, Peshtigo, and Mayville, Wisconsin, to pursue jobs in the education profession. Their last move was to Oshkosh in 1968.
Ruby Ann became an elementary school secretary working at both Read and Jacob Shapiro Schools. She retired in 1984. After retirement, Ruby Ann volunteered for many years with the Oshkosh Senior Friends, visiting homebound seniors. She did extensive traveling to most of the United States and in Canada from Nova Scotia to Vancouver. Her travels took her on a Caribbean cruise and also to the ABC Islands, which included Aruba.
Ruby Ann was very proud of her Danish heritage. She visited her parents’ birthplace in Door County, Wisconsin, several times a year and was able to connect with relatives there. She was interested in her genealogy and the background of her Danish family.
A lover of flowers, Ruby Ann had a passion and a green thumb for growing roses. She enjoyed watching football and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan as well as a follower of the Wisconsin Badgers.
A loving and devoted mother to her family, she is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, David (Barbara) Lesnick of Kalispell, MT, Mark (Susan) Lesnick of West Plains, MO, and Timothy (Pam) Lesnick of Hortonville, WI; her “favorite” grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Rodney (Sarah) Lesnick, and two cherished great-granddaughters, Emma and Alexa Lesnick, all of Combined Locks, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruby Ann is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, five brothers, and six sisters.
