Obituary for Richard Orin Wesenberg

Richard Orin  Wesenberg
Richard O. Wesenberg, age 86, of Oshkosh, entered into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Tuesday evening, June 19, 2018. Born on January 27, 1932, in Oshkosh, the son of Orin and Rosetta (Grozkrvez) Wesenberg, Richard married Shirley Nolan on June 21, 1958, in Oshkosh, and she preceded him in death on March 3, 2015.
Employed by Hoffmaster Corporation as a printing press operator for many years before his retirement, Richard enjoyed time spent woodworking and many happy hours with his granddaughters. During the 1970’s Richard could be found with his popcorn wagon at Menominee Park and on Sawyer Street greeting friends with the wonderful smell of fresh popped corn. He was an active member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, having served on numerous church committees and boards. Richard served his country with the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1950 to 1959.
Survivors include his son, Steve (Cheryl) Wesenberg of Phelps, Wisconsin; his daughter, Lori (Tim) Schuster of Oshkosh; his five grandchildren, Nathan (Vanessa) Zabel, Zachery (Alicia) Zabel, Sarah Wesenberg, Katelyn Schuster, and Cortney Schuster; and his siblings, Carol (Tony) Passarelli, John (Jan) Wesenberg, and Lois Wiggins. Richard is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and a sister, Myrna Wesenberg.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at 12:00 p.m., in Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 913 Nebraska Street, Oshkosh, with Reverend Chadwick Graham officiating. Inurnment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church. A heartfelt thank you, by the family, to the nurses and staff of Heartland Hospice for their dedicated help in caring for Richard. To the special people at Waterford, a very special thank you for going above and beyond to ensure that Richard received the best of care, we will always remember your kindness.
