Obituary for Craig Stephen Winkel

On July 23, 2016, Craig S. Winkel left this world, but not before making it better for those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Craig was born in Sheboygan, WI, on May 22, 1956, to Eugene and Corine (Beumler) Winkel. He attended Kiel High School and later attended FVTC to study Police Science. He served the residents of Winnebago County for 34 years, starting with the Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff. Then, after his retirement, he served as a court bailiff in the courthouse. He cleaned all the fish out of the Sheboygan River and cashed out all the poker machines in the casinos of Wisconsin. But most important, he was a devoted husband, generous and loving father and grandfather, caring son, and an unforgettable friend.
He is survived by his wife Robin of Oshkosh; his son Ryan, daughter-in-law Keeley; and grandson Piersen, all of Appleton; his mother Corine; sister Torie and her husband Chas; niece Amber; and grand-niece Emma, all of Florida; and mother-in-law Margaret of Oshkosh.
He is preceded in death by his father Eugene, all of his grandparents, and his father-in-law Jim.
There was a private service for family members in his memory.
In lieu of flowers, Craig would have appreciated donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Northeast Wisconsin Chapter: 1800 Appleton Rd., Suite 2, Menasha, WI 54952. Ph: 920-997-0038.
The Winkel Family would like to thank the compassionate staff of the UW Hospital in Madison.
