Obituary for Dennis Franklin Ehrenberg

Dennis Franklin Ehrenberg, age 84, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018. He was born on June 27, 1934 in Sheboygan, the son of Frank and Norma Ehrenberg. Mr. Ehrenberg served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1962. He was a Senior Computer Scientist and later a Computer Center Manager with Burroughs/Unisys Corporation in Lake Forest, California. He retired in 1991 after 29 years of dedicated service. His most important contribution to the Burroughs Corporation was his state-of-the art design, development and world support of Burroughs Online Real-time Banking System Software.

Dennis was a Patron Life Member of the National Rifle Association, a member (and officer) of the BPOE Elks Lodge #57, a member of Law Enforcement Alliance of America, a member of Judicial Watch, and a past member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was a NRA certified Rifle Expert and a NRA certified Pistol Expert, and a competitor in California area pistol matches with the Long Beach Police Pistol Club. Dennis was also an avid hunter and trout fisherman.

Dennis is survived by his sister, Vivian Gorden of Fond du Lac; nephew, Steven (Janelle) Cain of Birchwood; great-niece, Stephanie Cain of Altoona; great-niece, Haley (Christian) Ferguson of Eau Claire; niece, Susan (Scott) Dreger of Fond du Lac; and sister-in-law, Helen Ehrenberg of Oshkosh. He was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Norma; wife, Jeanne; sister, Deloris (Donald) Dobisch; brother, Willis; and niece, Christine Gay.

At Dennis’ request, there will be no showing. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2018 in the chapel at Lakeview Memorial Park, 2786 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh, with Rev. Connie Weiss officiating. In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made in Dennis’ name to Hospice Home of Hope, 400 County Hwy K, Fond du Lac, WI 54937.
