Obituary for Doris Mae Kossel (Larsen)

Doris M. Kossel, age 90, passed away at Eden Meadows in Oshkosh on Saturday, February 2, 2013. She was born in Oshkosh on December 18, 1922 the daughter of the late Hans “Louie” and Hazel (Hanson) Larsen. On February 18, 1944 she married Howard Kossel, her husband of 65 years. He preceded Doris in death on January 8, 2010. Doris raised her family on their family farm and loved feeding the calves. She was very active in her church. Doris was known to spend time with her friends and neighbors. She will be remembered for her love and care of her family.

Doris is survived by her children: Susan (Larry) Hamm of Cave Creek, AZ, Frederick Kossel of Neenah, Patricia (Donald) Roberts of Wausau, John (Jan) Kossel of Oshkosh, Ellen (Steven) Leppert of Worthington, OH, David Kossel of Oshkosh and Mary (Steven) Kuehnl of Oshkosh; grandchildren: Nicholas (Kathryn) and Matthew Hamm; Michael Kossel; Ryan (Maggie) Roberts, Mandy (Joshua) Wright; Lisa (Dean) Jagielo, Jesse, Joseph and Jason Kossel; Brian and Michelle Leppert; and Paul (Heather) Kuehnl and Jennifer (Benjamin) Morton; great-grandchildren: Luke and Brooklyn Roberts, Ruby Fischer, Sylvia and Lucille Wright, Addison Jagielo, Jackson Morton; sister, Catherine Raddatz; and brothers-in-law: Richard and Robert (Elaine) Kossel. She was preceded in death by her brother, Louie (Vivian) Larson; brother-in-law, Lyle Raddatz; and sisters-in-law: Lois and Margaret Kossel.

Private family funeral services will be held with Rev. Timothy Greenwald officiating. Interment will be in Ellenwood Cemetery. A memorial is being established in Doris’ memory.

The family extends a special thank you to Eden Meadows of Oshkosh and Sterling House of Neenah for their wonderful care.
