Obituary for Frances Marie Scheibinger (Seivers)

Frances “Fran” Marie Scheibinger, age 89, of Oshkosh, passed away at home with her family by her side on June 29, 2017. She was born in Neenah, WI on November 25, 1927, the daughter of the late Frank and Florence (Geiger) Seivers. She married Alois E. Scheibinger, Jr. on May 6, 1950 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Oshkosh, where she remained a member. At the age of 17, Frances went to work at Wisconsin Axle in Oshkosh to support the war efforts, and subsequently as a secretary at Wisconsin National Life. Upon her marriage, Frances and her husband Alois (known affectionately as Junior) owned and operated the long standing family business Parkway Garage in Oshkosh. They worked side by side running the business together for 32 years, up until Junior’s untimely passing in 1980.
In her free time Fran loved to bake, especially banana and cranberry breads, lemon pie, and white cut out cookies, all accompanied with a good cup of coffee. One of her favorite treats in the summer was homemade strawberry shortcake. She was an experienced quilter with over 25 finished quilts to her credit, she loved antiques, especially collecting old buttons. She enjoyed a good card game, cribbage, the daily crossword puzzle, and checkers. Fran was certainly a lucky charm to all who knew her, which was very evident at the casino, daily “pick 3”, and scratch off Tuesday's.
Above all, time spent with her children and especially her grandchildren was Fran’s number one priority and complete Joy in her life.
Fran will be remembered for her kindness and generosity towards everyone. She shared and showed her love by giving away her baked goods, cooking a good meal, gifting her homemade quilts, and keeping the door open with an extra place set at the table just in case. Fran simply made life more fun and beautiful for those around her. Her life is a boundless treasure that will be cherished forever.
Frances is survived by her children: Joe Scheibinger, Mike (Debra) Scheibinger and their daughter Taliah (Kyle) Danzinger; daughter, Linda (Kevin) Harvot and their son, Michael; loving and devoted nephew, David Kuhnz; special friend and Tuesday “scratch off buddy” Betty Hawley; loving nieces, numerous close friends and long time neighbors that were considered like family to Fran. And her very loving canine companion Poco.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alois E. Scheibinger, Jr.; sister, Betty (Lewis) Kuhnz; and brother, Richard (Maxine) Seivers.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Lakeview Memorial Park, 2786 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh. With a celebration of life to follow. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the care teams at the Michael D. Wachtel Cancer Center of Oshkosh, and Affinity Hospice for their wonderful care. We are filled with enormous gratitude and love for each and every person who personally cared for our mom with the utmost skill, grace and compassion, providing her with dignity, peace and comfort.
