Obituary for George A. Williams

George A. Williams, age 102, of Oshkosh, died Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Park View Health Center. Born on May 20, 1911, in Wittenberg, Wisconsin, to Sherman and May (Davidson) Williams, George married Adeline E. Erickson on February 10, 1934, in Wittenberg. Adeline preceded George in death on October 24, 2004.
Together, George and Adeline farmed for many years before retirement. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church. George enjoyed the outdoors fishing, deer hunting, hunting in Wyoming with his son and other relatives, spending time at the cabin he built in Wittenberg, and time spent with his brother, Bob, roofing and siding.
Left to mourn his passing is a son, Donald R. (Betty) Williams; a son-in-law, Ron Schlaeger; grandchildren, Chris Williams, Diana (Tom) Schultz, Larry (Karen) Williams, Bruce Williams, Karen Sue Williams, John (Deb) Williams, Katharine (Barbara Holbrook) Romme, Steven (Tammy Prather) Romme, and Patricia (Scott) LeMay; 17 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceding George in death is his beloved wife, Adeline; daughter, Jean Schlaeger; son-in-law, Bill Romme; grandson, Gary Williams; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Louis, Lester, and Robert Williams; a sister, Ethel Peterson; and a half-sister, Lillian Gill.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. in First English Lutheran Church, 1013 Minnesota Street, with Reverend Martin Ruge officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church.
