Obituary for Gordon W. Raddatz

Gordon W. Raddatz, age 97, passed away at Evergreen Retirement Comm unity in Oshkosh on Wednesday, March 23, 2016. He was born in Oshkosh on July 19, 1918, the son of the late William and Louise (Zentner) Raddatz. Gordon graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1936 and graduated from the Farm and Industry Short Course at UW-Madison in 1938. On November 22, 1952 he married Elsie Totzke in Edgar, WI. Gordon farmed in the Oshkosh area his entire life as well as being a director and agent for the Nekimi Mutual Fire Insurance Company. He was involved in Farm Bureau and numerous other farm organizations and cooperatives. Woodworking was a hobby he enjoyed. Gordon will be remembered for his compassion and willingness to help others.
Gordon is survived by his children: Wesley (Cindi) Raddatz of Green Bay, Grace (Tom) Barter of Kesley, IA and Diane Raddatz of Hartford; granddaughters: Lindsey (Eric) Hovey of Studio City, CA and Julia Raddatz of Charlotte, NC; and great-grandchildren: Sonia and Dalton Hovey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie, and his parents.
The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016 at PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 240 W. 9th St., Oshkosh, with Rev. John Worzala-Dumke officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Oshkosh.
The family extends a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Evergreen Retirement Community. Memorials will be given to the Evergreen Retirement Community Foundation.
