Obituary for Kenneth W. Neubauer

Kenneth W. Neubauer, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015, at the age of 90, at Aurora Medical Center. Ken was born in West Bloomfield on October 29, 1925, to Walter and Anna (Behm) Neubauer. As a young man, he proudly served his country during WWII, as a part of the First Armored Division with the US Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his actions at the Battle of the Bulge. The majority of Ken's life was spent as a dairy farmer, raising and working with Registered Holsteins. During his lifetime, Ken was always generous with his time, regularly giving back to the community in many ways. He volunteered his time to the Town of Algoma, as a firefighter and first responder, and also as a 4-H leader, providing valuable guidance in the development of young people. Some of his many other accomplishments include; serving as Chairman of the Town of Algoma; active involvement in several Veteran Service Organizations; serving as long time member of the Winnebago County Board; and he was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He had a deep connection with, and love of, horses which began when he was a young man and continued throughout his entire life. In his spare time, Ken loved meeting up with good friends to play cards whenever he was able. The "Card Club" to which he belonged was formed many years ago by four couples, and, although some of the players have changed over the years, due to club members passing, life long friendships were made that continue to this day.

Ken is survived by his children, Roger (Shelia) Neubauer, Bruce Neubauer, and Kim (Lorin) Steevens; grandchildren, Kyle (Amanda) Neubauer, Elizabeth (Ben) Trehey, Samantha Tigert; great grandchildren, Jake and Drew Neubauer, and Owen and Ava Trehey; brother, Arlin Neubauer, sister, Darlene Neubauer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers Leland and Virgil, and the mother of his children, Virginia Neubauer.

Ken will be greatly missed by, not only his loving children, grandchildren and other family members, but also the many friends that he made throughout his lifetime and the lives he touched in his 90 years on this earth are richer for having known him.

"You held my hand when I was small. You caught me when I fell. You are the hero of my childhood and my later years as well. Every time I think of you my heart still fills with pride. Although I'll always miss you, Dad, I know you're by my side. In laughter and in sorrow; in sunshine and through rain, I know you're watching over me until we meet again."

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 370 Bowen St., Oshkosh, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.

Kenneth's family wishes to thank the ER and ICU doctors and staff at Aurora Medical center for taking such great care of their Father. They were very caring and made their Father as comfortable as possible right up to the end. Their kindness was extended to the family and was truly appreciated.
