Obituary for Marie J. Oatman

Marie J. Oatman, 89, of Oshkosh passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2005 at Bethel Home. She was born on December 1, 1915 in Oshkosh, daughter of Max and Josephine (Hemmer) Wachtveitl. She married Orville Oatman on September 10, 1937 in Crown Point, Indiana. He preceded her in death on October 10, 1972.
Surviving are her sister, Frances (Kenneth) Eckstein of Neenah; sisters-in-law, Alice Wachtveitl of Rockford, Illinois and Elaine Wachtveitl of Oshkosh; special niece, Rose Gafner and many other nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward, Raynold and Ralph Wachtveitl and an infant sister, Gertrude.
Marie was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church. She will be greatly missed by the generations of children who congregated at her home because of the love she shared. She enjoyed cooking and baking for friends and neighbors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 5th, at St. John's Catholic Church, 434 W. South Park Avenue, the Rev. William Van DeKreeke officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial has been established. A special thank you is extended to Father Bill, all the caregivers at Bethel Home, and the Big Band at Bethel Home.
