Obituary for Norman Joseph Schneider

Norman Joseph Schneider
Norman J. Schneider, age 88, of Oshkosh, died Thursday morning, April 19, 2018, at Bethel Home. Born on October 27, 1929, in Oshkosh, the son of Anton and Agnes (Klein) Schneider, Norman married Lorraine Horejs on November 15, 1947.
Employed by Peoples Brewery for 29 years, Norman was the last employee to leave when it closed in 1972. He later worked for Universal Motors/Medalist in Oshkosh prior to his retirement. He was a “jack” of all trades and a “master” of none. Norman enjoyed gardening and puttering in his garage, making wood furniture and craft items. He was quite the creative man, making many crafty things with metal and scraps. Family get-togethers were special times for Norman, especially the food! Along with his creative skills and talents, Norman passed on the traditions of hunting and fishing to his sons and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Lorraine Schneider; his children, Don (Lisa) Schneider, Steve (Sherrie) Schneider, and Sandy (Wally) Cartwright; a daughter-in-law, Linda Schneider; 9 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 11 Step-grandchildren. Norman is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jim Schneider; a daughter, Karen Schneider; three brothers, Victor, Harry, and Greg Schneider; and a sister, Virginia “Jeanie” Shelley.
Memorial funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. in Seefeld Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, with Reverend Mathew Simonar officiating. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Tuesday from 2:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Online condolences to the family may be given at www.seefeldfuneral.com.
