Obituary for Thomas E. Thompson

Thomas “Governor” E. Thompson, age 63, of Oshkosh, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center. Tom was born on July 25, 1952, son of Russell and Louise (Malson) Thompson. He was married to Diane (Miller) for 25 years.
Tom was an active member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, in Oshkosh, and a pattern maker at Neenah Foundry for 35 years. He was an avid Packers and Brewers fan. He loved the yearly family Door County trips, family time at Jansen’s restaurant in Oshkosh, and also enjoyed doing the cooking himself for his family. Tom was very close to getting his pilot’s license, and loved to fly. He was also a handy-man around the house, and a perfectionist. Tom was very proud (as was his family) to have made some positive lifestyle changes this past year to greatly improve his health, losing weight and getting off his diabetic medication. He and his “Thompson blues” will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Diane; son, Andrew; daughters, Ashley and Amber; step-daughter, Heather (Dave) Miller-Wilkins; two grandchildren, Benjamin and Samantha; sisters, Julie Lang, Kathy (Jim) Stromske, Mary Lou (Randy) Moore, Anne (Darel) Boyce, Jane (Rick) Steiner, Rita (fiancée Duane Lepianka) Triatik, and Betsy (Paul) LaFontiane; brother, Paul; brother-in-law, David (Mary Lou) Miller; sister-in-law, Debbie (friend Michael Jones) Miller; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Tom in death are his parents.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015, at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 830 S. Westhaven Dr, Oshkosh, at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
