Obituary for Jack Leroy Golz

Jack Leroy Golz
Jack LeRoy Golz, age 79, passed away on March 16, 2018. He was born in Oshkosh on August 26, 1938 the son of William and Edna (Schuff) Golz. Jack graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1957. He was in the Naval Reserve and was on leave in tending to re-enlist in the Navy until his brother Bob told him of a girl that was working at the Rod and Gun Club on Oregon Street. One proverbial look was all it took and he fell in love with his soon to be life-long soulmate, Judith S. (Gray) Golz. Together they forged a 52 year marriage until her passing on August 4, 2013. Together they raised two boys, John L.W. and Jamie M. Golz. Jack worked at Morgans until going to Medalist Industries Universal Motor Division as a Draftsman. From there he finished his working career at Mercury Marine Brunswick as a designer. Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing in his earlier years but later on he and his wife enjoyed yearly camping trips around Lakes Superior and Michigan. After their first visit to Walt Disney World in 1976 they mostly enjoyed their trips to Florida and Disney World with family and friends. They also enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and the special relationship they had with the Bill Monroe Family, a friendship that was in place since the school days of Judy and Darryl Ann (Ware) Monroe.

Jack is survived by his two sons, and the daughter he never had, Heather (Ellis) Golz. He is further survived by his six grandchildren: Brier, Kassie and Garrett through John, and Isabella, Brandon and Kerrigan through Jamie, and the Monroe Family.
Jack was preceded in death by the love of his life, Judy; his parents, as well as his siblings: William, Robert, Alice, Pauline, Joyce and Ronald; and his dear friend Darryl and her son Jeffrey Monroe.

Jack was a very unique person, and will be missed by everyone who knew him. Perhaps his nephew, Jim Veith, said it best when he stated, “Jack was not only a gentleman, he was a gentle man.”

“Hopefully, the emptiness I feel will subside over time,” your nephew and friend, Mike.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Aurora Medical Center, Eden Meadows, Dr. Geck and his staff, and Dr. Swicke and the staff at St. Lukes Hospital for having the audacity to try.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. in Seefeld Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street in Oshkosh. Family and friends may gather on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
